Why are promotional products important to my business?
Marketing is really important to any business, if you don’t market or promote your business how does anyone know about it? There are many ways to promote your business, printed ads, brochures, social media, email campaigns, mail shots but one option often gets overlooked and that is promotional merchandise.
Personalised products like mugs and pens and bags are a great way to get people to remember your company and there are a lot of facts surrounding promotional products and what value they add to a business.
So how many promotional products do you have? Take a look around your home or office and you will be surprised. 8 out of 10 consumers own between 1 and 10 promotional items.
So, are they useful you ask? Well 53% of these people will use a promo product at least once a week. What about the mug you drink your morning coffee in?
How long do we keep them, you must be wondering? Believe it or not 6 in 10 consumers keep promotional items for up to 2 years and they rarely get thrown away as only 1 in 5 will pop theirs in the bin. Think about the shopping bag you carry around with you all the time now, I bet you have had that for a few years.
82% of consumers buy from a business where they already own a piece of promotional merchandise. Now that’s a huge reason to invest in some branded items. A carefully thought out promotional product strategy will reap the benefits. So, its key to have items that reflect your business. 77% of consumers say an items usefulness is the number one reason to keep it. Health and safety products, computer products and writing instruments area all ranked as the most useful.
So, what do you think are the most popular items that companies invest in? The top promo item is clothing – think about all the sportwear brands, pens, pencils, bags, calendars and drinkware. 91% pf consumers have a promotional item in their kitchen, 74% in their workspace and 55% in the bedroom.
Did you know that women are more likely to own a branded bag whereas men more likely to own a shirt or cap.
And mugs, we all have so many right? But a mug with a logo on it is more effective than advertising on the TV or radio!
A little historical fact now – the first ever promotional items was a commemorative button dating back to 1789 when George Washington was elected President of the United States. And the first tradeshow was held in 1914 in Las Vegas with 32 exhibitors.
